Entertainment Weekly reports that Matthew McConaughey has been approached to play Magnum P.I., which we doubt he'll take since he'd have to grow a mustache, wear a shirt and look like a real man.

Suppose they gave a Magnum, and didn't invite Tom?

Hollywood doesn't care about what the people love, hate, and want in movies. They think that because they have the money to make them a reality, we will watch anything they give us. Internet, blogs and the Will of the People have changed this way of thinking — but they just haven't got the memo yet.

What really ticked us off is they (Universal Pictures) refused to bring Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum, but instead, they cast this bongo player, weed smoker Matthew McConaughey.

In October 1999, McConaughey was arrested at his home in Austin, Texas on charges of possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. The police were responding to a 2:30 a.m. noise disturbance call. According to police reports, McConaughey was dancing around naked and playing bongo drums with a friend, actor Cole Hauser, a co-actor in Dazed and Confused (1993). The drug charges were dropped, but McConaughey pled guilty for violating the city's noise ordinance and was ordered to pay a fine.

We personally don't want to see ANYONE else in the role of Magnum other than TOM SELLECK. He's the one who originated the role and should be afforded the opportunity to play the character on the big screen. He's NOT DEAD as some Hollywood studio execs seem to think! We just dont' understand why Universal won't give him the chance. After all, he was loyal to them when he had the opportunity to do Indiana Jones and turned it down due to his commitment to Magnum ... now is Universal's turn to repay the favor.

They've already abilterated Miami Vice with recycled actors, Farrel and Fox. Why don't they use more recycled actors like Wilson and Stiller in Magnum? If they are in the business of ruining Magnum, then McConaughey is the way to go. If they want to make money and a Classic, they'd better stick with Selleck.

Borrowing the words of Highlander's Duncan McCloud: There can be only ONE!! Tom Selleck.
