On Friday, News Corp. shareholders approve by a small majority the extension of a poison pill provision.
More than 57 percent of eligible News Corp. shareholders voted to extend the pill.
The vote comes as Rupert Murdoch continues talks to swap or buy back Liberty Media's stake in his publishing and media empire.
