Cingular Wireless, the largest U.S. wireless service, on Friday sued a Georgia firm and dozens of HP's unnamed data brokers, accusing them of using deceptive means to obtain cell phone records.

Cingular named the CAS Agency Inc., its principal Charles Kelly and up to 100 unnamed agents and 100 unnamed firms in the lawsuit filed in federal district court in Atlanta.

The lawsuit came a day after current and former HP executives were questioned in Washington by a congressional committee about the techniques used in the investigation to unearth leaks to the press of confidential board discussions.

Verizon Wireless, ranked second after Cingular in the U.S. wireless market, on Thursday sued 20 HP's unnamed data brokers on similar grounds of using fraudulent means to gather phone records.
