(Reuters) - Starbucks Corp. on Thursday said it implementing a 5-cent price increase on handcrafted beverages such as lattes and cappuccinos at its U.S. and Canadian company-owned stores, effective Oct. 3.

The company is also raising prices on most of its whole bean coffees by 50 cents a pound, or about 3.9 percent, spokeswoman Valerie O'Neil said.

The move marks the first price increase on beverages in two years and the first increase on whole bean coffee in nine years, O'Neil said.
