An Internet video showing a driver go-karting recklessly through the streets of Quebec City has police on the hunt for the group responsible (I guess they should try 'kartvader.com', doh!).

The 44-minute movie, which is for sale on a website for under $20, was shot by someone who calls himself "KartVader."

Dubbed "the first of the next generation of extreme videos," the producer claims to have "ripped up 67.8 km of public road without being caught by police."

The driver speeds along streets such as Grande Allée and the de Vallon highway at speeds in excess of 160 km/h.

In another scene, a pedestrian is seen jumping back onto the sidewalk to avoid being run down.

"The cops were confused about what was going on and we were trying to catch our driver," the producers said on their website. "We were still able to pull out this video."

KartVader stumps police

Police believe the video was shot in November 2003, although they only heard about its sale on the Internet two weeks ago.

"It's very surprising to us that KartVader is suppose to have circulated through our streets for a period of 40 minutes and nobody called the police," said Constable Jean Manguy.

If the identity of KartVader is discovered, Manguy said the person will be charged with reckless driving.

Don't try this, police warn

The entire video, including the music, is made to look and sound like a video game, an element that worries police.  -   via cbcca
